Hello!
In this article, I'll talk about our presentation in a secondary school about the conservation of forests.
We have been in the town "Los Pilares" with our documentary "Green" to begin the competition of tales and stories we organize for students from 12 to 16 for the International Year of Forests.
Some days before, we've been to the schools of Los Pilares and Ixtenco with posters to explain our project and why we want to provide the children information about forests. We were welcomed by the heads of schools with a great enthousiasm each time.
So, the 10th of March, at 7.30, we left the University to go to Los Pilares and the secondary school. At 9.30, we began to prepare everything in the technology quarter.
With around 50 students from 12 to 16, we broadcasted "Green". Then, we discussed with them about the movie, about what were their opinion on this subject and about the conservation of forests and moreover how to keep the wood of the Malinche. This talk was also a media to give them ideas for the tale.
Contrary to one might think, the discussion was interesting with good participation of few students. Especially when they told us that they never, ever, go to the Malinche, whereas they live 20 minutes by feet from there.
Then, we gave them packages with white leaves and a leaflet of the CONAFOR about conservation of forests.
After two hours, I left the school with a good feeling, that some of them understood well our work and that what we're talking about is important. Now, I hope I'll get a lot of tales!
